Houston’s Terrence Jones arrest for attack on homeless man

Houston Rockets’ Terrence Jones was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Portland, Oregon, for yelling at and allegedly, stomping on the leg of a homeless man.

According to KATU.com, police are said to have watched a group of men, which included last season’s rookie Jones, walk out from a bar and past a doorway where two homeless men were sleeping.

The sergeant in attendance said he heard Jones yell “Wake up,” before lifting his own leg up to stamp on the victim.

Whilst the victim, Daniel John Kellerher, sustained a minor injury, he did not need immediate medical treatment.

Jones, born and raised in Portland, was arrested and is due to face a charge of harassment in court.

Jones led his high school side Jefferson Democrats to three straight Class 5A championships and played in the 2010 McDonald’s All-American Game.

Earmarked to play for the University of Washington, he changed his mind opting to go to Kentucky, where he helped the Wildcats to the Final Four in his freshman year, before the national title in 2012.

He was drafted 18th overall by the Houston Rockets, however spent most of last season with Rio Grande Valley Vipers, where he was initially selected for the NBA D-League All-Star Game, before being recalled to Rockets. In his 19 regular-season games with the Rockets, the 6′ 9″, 252lb forward averaged 5.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in 14.5 minutes.
