BBL Preview: Phoenix at Wolves – 11 October 2013

It is the beginning of a tough weekend for Cheshire Phoenix as they face top of the league Worcester Wolves away at the University of Worcester Arena in the BBL Championship.

Wolves will not have had even enough time to wipe the sweat off their brows after Thursday night’s overtime victory against London Lions, and with Phoenix having now gotten off the mark with a North West derby win over Manchester Giants on Sunday, they will need to be fully focused on the job at hand.

Phoenix saw the return of Kai Williams to the Northgate Arena on Sunday, and now Williams will return to Worcester, against his team from last year, and also to face his brother, Jamal.

Paul James’ side have been reaping the rewards of point guard Zaire Taylor’s efforts since the start of the season, but took a worrying knock at the Copper Box and his participation will have many a close eye kept on the playmaker.

For John Lavery and his Phoenix squad, they know that they must put in a stellar performance if they are to be the first side to beat Wolves this season, however, Williams will have been integrated well into Lavery’s system and the hope is that the fruits of their labour in training this week will pay dividends and walk away from Worcester with the W.
