BBL Preview: Knights at Eagles – 11 October 2013

Newcastle Eagles do not like losing. They don’t like losing games, and they don’t like losing titles. Last season, they had a torrid February and March which effectively put paid to their challenge in the BBL Championship.

Losing away to Plymouth last weekend will have hurt Fab Flournoy and his men, who were being touted to regain their crowns that Leicester and Sheffield swept from them.

However, with the results that have cropped up so early on this season, now is the time for Eagles to consolidate and ensure that wins find their way on to the board – and what better way than to start that than facing newcomers Birmingham Knights on their home court?

Paul Douglas’ Knights had a bye week last weekend and go into their second game of their existence still without the services of import Armond Battle.

For many, the need for Birmingham to be on their A-game in order to prevent an annihilation is paramount, but with the bookies placing Flournoy and co. at 1/100 and beyond, only a fool would give the Midlands side any chance of walking away with the win.
