Wildcats put eight past Tigers

Last Saturday the Swindon Wildcats earned themselves a convincing win after defeating the Telford Tigers with an 8-1 victory.

Despite being a rather close initial ten minutes the Wildcats were the first to break the deadlock, after Lee Rochardson took advantage of a rebound opportunity to score a first. A minute on and Nicky Watt then quickly made it two after recovering on an initial shot to tap home another rebound.

It took just five minutes for Swindon to then put up a third consecutive goal with import Jonas Höög scoring as he out waited the goaltender g to slot up another important goal.

Seeing the period out James Knight would then wrap up a good twenty minutes as his tap in after some great passing would notch a fourth.

The second period would see better defence by the travelling side however at the thirty minute mark Swindon’s Michal Pinc would find a fifth goal as his slapshot would find the top corner and past the shoulder of Tiger netminder Ryan. With what seemed a replying goal, Telford’s Marek Hornak then scored for his side as his one timed shot in front of net would see Thomas Murdy’s shutout denied for the night.

The ‘Cats seemed little affected and showed good recovery as Jaroslav Cesky would then find a sixth goal of the evening, finishing on a great long ice pass and bringing the momentum back to the home side.

The third period would then bring about Cesky’s second goal after connecting on a quick pass into the slot and guiding the puck in for a seventh Wildcat goal. Previous scorer Höög would then round off the night after finishing on his initial shot, scoring what would be a final eighth goal of the evening.

A great game for Swindon saw the chemistry of the team shine significantly tonight, with performances from every player contributing to a solid scoreline. The Wildcats will now take this momentum together with a good three points earned last weekend to Manchester tomorrow, as they face the Phoenix side for the first time this year.
