Solid support comes in as Sharks complete roster

This morning, One Health Sharks Sheffield have confirmed the additions of guard Zach Gachette and forwards Colin Sing, Olu Babalola and George Brownell ahead of the 2013-14 season that starts on Friday 27th September at home to Cheshire Phoenix.

Gachette, Sing and Brownell have all already benefitted from the team’s scholarship programme with Sheffield Hallam University, which this year will also include other Sharks players such as Mike Tuck, Nick Lewis and Brian Barbour.

The mystery surrounding whether or not Babalola would return after keyhole surgery to both of his ankles during the off-season, has now been solved, and will be a welcome relief for all to see the veteran player return.

Coach Atiba Lyons, was keen to see all four return: “We are trying to build something here in Sheffield that will produce a successful team for the long term. It is key to that plan that we have a core of top players who return year on year to give us the sort of stability that has benefitted some of our closest rivals. Olu is a big part of that, as he is the senior member of the squad and probably the best perimeter defender in the BBL.

“Zach and Colin have been with us a couple of years now and it is time for them to step up and show some of the potential and talent that they both have on the court. George is a great young player, with a good shot and I’ll be looking to put more trust in him this year.”

Although Lyons has now said that his summer signings are now complete, and as previously reported, Sheffield do still have one final import slot remaining, however, it is believed the spot will be left open for the time being, and will be filled if absolutely necessary during the season.
