Sad Daye for Gage as Holmes rolls into town

One Health Sharks Sheffield have cut New Jersey-born Point Guard Gage Daye from their roster and recruited former Texas A&M man B J Holmes in his place.

The Sharks, currently 11th in the table with a 2-8 record, have taken the difficult decision to release Daye in view of their current standing in the Championship and hope that Holmes will be the player to reinvigorate their season. In his time in the Sheffield uniform, Daye contributed 17.2 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game and 4 assists per game, winning many admirers for his hard-working displays on the court.

Holmes makes his way to South Yorkshire following spells with the now-defunct LKS Lodz in Poland and more recently, Lapua Korikobrat in Finland. He comes with a reputation of being a fast, pass-first Point Guard with a good shooting pedigree having schooled at NCAA1 Texas A&M University. The 24 year old from Alief, Texas produced stats of 9.7ppg, 2.8rpg, 3.2apg in his senior year and it is unclear as yet as to whether he will figure in the Sharks’ BBL Cup semi-final first leg tie with the Leicester Riders at the EIS on Friday night.
