Robinson goes from Rocks to Raiders

Not quite John O’Groats to Land’s End, but close enough as Plymouth University Raiders today announced their second signing of the summer, in 6’4″ American Donald Robinson, last season’s rookie Glasgow Rocks star.

The 2012/13 BBL season saw him average 15.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and shot 56% from the field and a highly commendable 42% from beyond the arc.

“I’m really pleased to have signed for Plymouth,” said Robinson. “They’re a great team and we had some epic battles with them last season. I liked what I saw in Plymouth, and I’m excited to get there and get started.”

Robinson, a graduate of West Virginia Tech in the summer of 2012, straight away joined the Rocks where he made a name for himself and a fan’s favourite.

“I’m happy to have Donald join us for the coming year,” said Raiders Head Coach Gavin Love. “He had a very solid rookie season with the Rocks and I know he is capable of being a go to guy in this league. Donald fits the mold of player I’m looking for – individuals that will excel in my system and players who I feel are hungry to work hard and improve.”

After the news of Andreas Schreiber earlier this week as Raiders’ first signing, more are expected to follow in the coming days and weeks.

“We’re pretty close to announcing two more players,” added Love. “Hopefully we’ll have some more good news for the fans by the end of the week.”
