Reber hopes to flourish at Flyers

Fife Flyers confirmed 26-year-old American centre, Matt Reber, will be joining them for the 2013/14 Rapid Solicitors Elite Ice Hockey League season.

Hailing from Minnesota, Reber spent last season playing for Stockton Thunder in the East Coast Hockey League. Reber also iced for Stockton during the 2011-12 season alongside fellow newcomer to the Flyers, forward Jordan Fulton.

Flyers’ head coach Todd Dutiaume spoke his delight at having made the deal for Reber: “Matt is a great signing for us and comes highly recommended by our usual contacts.

“Matt will be playing centre and is a very hard working guy in both ends of the ice, and we will be looking for him to put up some decent numbers for us.”

Reber has played, in total, 156 games in the ECHL with Utah Grizzlies as well as Thunder, recording 90 points (25 goals + 75 assists) and 66 PIMs.

Associate coach Danny Stewart added: “The addition of Matt gives us a solid 2 way centre that can play in all situations. He is also very skilled up front, and another great skater to our line up, and gives us another right handed guy on the powerplay. We will be looking to Matt for a lot of production offensively and again a solid all around guy.”

Reber is looking forward to joining back up with Jordan Fulton, and can’t wait for the season to start. “I heard about the team first through Jordan Fulton who I have played with in the past and who is a great friend of mine, so the opportunity to play together and live together again was something really exciting for me.

“I’ve heard great things about the league, not only about the level of competition but with the new conferences, it sounds like we won’t be going on any week long road trips which is a nice change of pace from the ECHL.

“I can’t wait to get over there and not only start practicing with the team but this will also be my first time in the UK and so I’m really looking forward to embracing a new culture and just experiencing everything that Fife has to offer.”
