Probable NFL Milestones for 2013: Wide Receivers

Calvin Johnson, or Megatron as he’s perhaps more commonly known needs two 200 yard game to overhaul Lance Alworth (5) for the most all-time. The towering Detroit Lions receiver also needs a 1,500 yard year to join Andre Johnson (3), Marvin Harrison (3) and Jerry Rice (4) as the only players with at least three such seasons in NFL history.

The above achievement is echoed by Houston Texans Andre Johnson, if he has a 1,500 season he will join Jerry Rice as the only players to do this in four seasons. Another landmark he is chasing is that of 100 receptions. If he gets a ton he will join Wes Welker as the only players to have done so in five seasons.

Which leads nicely into the new Denver Bronco, Wes Welker will be aiming to stay ahead of the pack with his own 100 catch year thus extending his record to six seasons. He has led the league in receptions on three occasions, should he do it in 2013 he will join Lionel Taylor (5) and Don Hutson (8) as the only players to have done this at least four times.

Chicago Bears Brandon Marshall is also looking to join the 100 club. A century of receptions will see him join Welker and A. Johnson and Reggie Wayne with five seasons at this mark.

Reggie Wayne the veteran Indianapolis Colt needs 1,000 yards to join some illustrious company. Terrell Owens (9), Jimmy Smith (9), Tim Brown (9), Randy Moss (10), Jerry Rice (14) as the only players to have at least nine 1,000 yard seasons. He will also join Welker with a fifth 100 catch year if he grabs 100.
