Parker and France earn their spurs

Tuesday’s latest group game saw Argentina dip 64-71 against a Tony Parker-inspired France. Nine points down the stretch from the goggle-wearing Parker saw him to a team-high 17 and a vital win for the French.

There were big games again for Manu Ginobili (26 points) and Russell Brand lookalike Luis Scola, with 16 points and 8 rebounds, but neither had the luck of the East London lothario as the Gauchos went down to the defeat. Argentina now turn their attentions to the next game against Tunisia, destroyed 110-63 against the USA in the late game at the basketball arena.

Final reflections came from the impressive Ginobili who commented, ‘We lost against TP and his boys. They played better, well deserved. We now face Tunisia on Thu. Gotta keep it up. Chances intact.’ A loss to the Africans would be a major surprise and the expectation must be that Ginobili will ‘Spur’ the Argentinians on to greater things.
