Padres leave it late over the Dodgers

The San Diego Padres came from behind late on to open their MLB season with a 3-1 victory over the LA Dodgers.

It seemed as though the Dodgers were about to extend their winning streak from Down Under, in front of a record Petco Park crowd of 45,567, after Carl Crawford’s RBI in the fifth-inning, with Hyun-Jin Ryu notching up seven scoreless innings.

However, replacement Brian Wilson allowed Seth Smith in for a home run to tie the game in the eighth inning, before Chris Denorfia made a two-run single to seal victory for the visiting Padres.
