NFL Confirms Three International Series Games for 2014 Regular Season

The National Football League has just announced that they will play three regular season games at London’s Wembley Stadium in 2014.

This shows further intent to eventually have a franchise in London. Given the fact that the two games this year sold out quickly, three games will be testing the British public’s appetite for the game.

So who will be playing? Well we know the Jacksonville Jaguars have signed on a four year deal and next year will be the second of those. The Oakland Raiders and Atlanta Falcons have now agreed to host a game here.

Exact dates and the ‘away’ teams have yet to be announced, but we can break down the possible teams as the opponents for every team are predetermined in a rotational four year cycle.

It is very unlikely that each team will give up a division game (hasn’t had one yet) so we can count those opponents out. In the case of the Jaguars they are scheduled to play Cleveland, Pittsburgh, New York Giants and Dallas, as well as the team that finishes the same place as them in the AFC East. Given that the Steelers have just visited and the Giants have also been over, we could see the arrival of the Cowboys. After all the Jags need a big name to help sell tickets given their current form.

The Raiders are slated to play against Buffalo, Miami, Arizona and San Francisco as well as the same place finisher from the AFC South. The Dolphins came over in 2007 but have a good following here, it’s unlikely the 49ers will be over again so soon after their visit in less than a fortnight. Bills could be a good draw, as would the Cardinals.

Lastly the Falcons and they are scheduled to play Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland and Pittsburgh, as well as the same place finish from the NFC West. The standout from this line-up is the Lions, not only are they the only team not to have travelled to the UK so far out of this group, they are arguably the most dynamic.

When final confirmation of the teams and dates of these games are revealed we will bring it to you here.
