Knights extend their roster through Hopkins

Another young addition has today joined the Birmingham Knights’ roster for the 2013/14 BBL season, in the form of 6′ 7″ forward, Emile Hopkins.

Hopkins, originally from Moseley, has spent the last six years plying his trade in Leicester, initially for the Riders but the last four years with the EBL Division One Warriors set-up, where he played alongside another recent signed Knight of the realm, Ryan Lewis. Hopkins was held in high regard having taken the Coach’s Player of the Year award three years running and picked up the Most Outstanding Player award in 2013.

Speaking on his switch to the Knights, Hopkins said: “I am very happy that I’ve signed with the Knights and playing alongside very talented players. Playing for my home town is a dream come true, I am really excited for the season to start especially as the first game will be familiar territory to me, but with Coach Dougie at the helm I’m confident we will have a good competitive season.”

Coach Douglas hopes that his new signing will bring a number of qualities into his ever-growing line-up: “I’m pleased to have Emile as part of the Knights set-up as he brings BBL experience and knowledge to the team.

“Emile is a live wire with good energy and high work rate; I’m looking forward to seeing his ‘above the rim’ style of basketball energise the fans and his fellow team mates.”
