Jordan’s Serial: Tebow, Contracts, and Trash Talk

Clock Is Ticking On Tebow Time…Again…

It had to happen. It was just a matter of when. The fact that it was the day after the 2013 NFL Draft didn’t really surprise anyone either.

The New York Jets have released Tim Tebow.

The player that can’t catch a break in terms of being taken seriously has to look for a new home once again. If he wants to stay in the NFL he may have to rethink his position, some say he is more suited to play full back, but news has come out in the last couple of days that the Jets had numerous calls regarding a trade only if Tebow considered playing tight end, nothing eventually materialised.

So, where next for the third year ‘journeyman’? The smart talk saying he could land in New England. The Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is a big fan and could use him in new schemes. There’s also talk that he could go be a good fit in the CFL. The world is hardly Tebow’s oyster, but at the very least its an intriguing story that he keeps unwittingly writing for himself.

Cruz Not Cruising Into An Easy Deal

There’s always one isn’t there. So far this season’s longest contract dispute/holdout is that of New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz. No doubt his value to the Giants’ roster, he is their most explosive talent in that skill position. He is demanding the salary that befits that, to the tune of around $10 million per year.

The G-Men front office is seeing the situation a little differently, and want the wideout to take about $3m less than his estimation. It’s not quite a pot about to boil over but if they don’t come to terms soon it could get out of control.

In the last 24 hours head coach Tom Coughlin has come out and said that the dispute is starting to become a concern. “It has to be a concern because when the restricted free agency period is over, you would hope that things would move fast,” Coughlin said Monday on WFAN, via the New York Post, “what we want is exactly what I said the other day. We want a win-win. We want Victor to be proud to be a New York Giant, proud of his contract.”

Like the Tebow saga, this one still has some mileage.

RG3 Whipping Up A Frenzy In…..Dallas?

Did he really need to go there? He come across as so humble after all.

After his sensational rookie year Robert Griffin III has maybe lit the blue touch paper in what could be an exciting war of words. During a pep rally last Saturday he threw out that boyish grin we saw a lot of in 2012, and started a little light hearted trash talk. The response could be interesting though.

“You’ve got to start with the last game against the Cowboys, Alfred Morris runs for 200 yards, does a great job. Then we go back to the game on Thanksgiving and we spanked the Cowboys.” said Griffin, speaking to The Dallas Morning News.

Will Tony Romo respond in kind, or do his talking when the two meet on Sunday Night Football, October 13th.
