Gardner reiterates Clan’s desire for the playoffs

It has been just one win in 14 matches for Braehead Clan, and Head Coach, Paul Gardner this morning released a statement via the team’s official website:

I know that it has been tough to accept some of the losses of late. there have been games where we have been close to the win and battled hard, but unfortunately the results did not go our way, and I appreciate that at times, you the fans feel that the team are not battling hard enough on the ice, but what I can say is that we are a proud bunch of guys, and we will battle hard for you and for us in every game we have left to play this season.

I want to thank you for your continued support.

Our fan support has been welcomed and has been greatly appreciated through some difficult times this season.

As you know, the results of our hockey team have not been what we had worked and hoped for, especially in the past month.

I want you to know, that myself and our group of players will continue to work to the very end, and continue our goal of getting ourselves into a playoff position.

We will ALL work to do our best, and to make you proud to be members of our Purple Army.

It’s not good reading, but with only four matches left, against two other sides battling it out for that last play-off spot, Fife Flyers and Dundee Stars.

Now, it is just of whether pride can be turned into points at this crucial late stage of the season.
