Cloutier praise for in form Tendler

Excel Hull Stingrays player-coach Sylvain Cloutier has hailed the recent form of Canadian forward Jereme Tendler.

The 28-year-old Saskatchewan native has rattled in six goals in his last three Rapid Solicitors Elite League games to take his tally to 19 in 32 matches this season.

Tendler, who netted 51 times last term and was short-listed for the league’s newcomer of the year, is now fourth in the goal scoring charts.

He scored a brace in Stingrays’ 4-2 loss at Braehead Clan on Saturday before claiming a hat-trick in the 7-6 reverse after penalty shots to Edinburgh Capitals on Sunday.

Cloutier said: “Tends had a big weekend, he has a hot stick right now and we need him to keep it going.

“He is a goal scorer and he is one of those players who goes through a little slump and then scores goals in bunches.

“Last season he went a few weeks without scoring and still got 50 – but he knows how to put the puck in the net.”

Stingrays take on Cardiff Devils at Hull Arena in the Rapid Solicitors Elite League on Sunday December 18 (6pm face-off). Tickets can be purchased by ringing the Hull Arena Box Office on 01482 325252.
