BBL Birmingham trials: Have you got what it takes?

The hunt is on by the as-yet-to-be named Birmingham BBL side, as they scour the country during May to find the best talent available ahead of the new season later this year.

The launch of the team, owned and managed by local sport business consultancy, Oaks Consultancy Limited, marks the return of professional basketball to the Second City.

The trials will be held on May 18th & 19th at their new home venue, the Doug Ellis Sports Centre.

They will be held over two days using a combined test, with the first day being made up of physical and technical tests.

Players will need to pass day one in order to get through to day two which will consist of the playing side of the trials.

Birmingham’s recently appointed Head Coach, Paul Douglas said: “We will be using a combine style of testing similar to that used in the NBA and NFL, it’s a hard physical workout but a fair way of testing a range of players.”

He also added: “I’m really excited to see what talent is out there locally, nationally and internationally. We have had a lot of interest already and I’m confident that hosting these trials will unearth a depth of talent that should be interesting to watch on the court.”

If you are interested in taking part in the trials, you must first complete the online form at www.bblbirmingham.co.uk/player-trials.

There will be a cost of £15 for the trials, which is to cover the cost of a numbered reversible vest or t-shirt. Those who do sign up on will receive further information shortly afterwards.
