BBL Betting – Sunday 18th November 2012

If you followed me pre-UKASF; then you’ll know I like a flutter.

Football, golf, basketball, rugby, cricket, F1 – if it’s available on a betting market, chances are I’ve whacked a few quid on it (Ernie Els backed after the fifth hole on the final day of the Open this year at 30/1 was a great triumph!)

So now I’m going to bring some enlightenment for those who may wish to partake in such financial debauchery, starting with betting in the BBL.

This is a difficult market, as usually odds are only available on the day of games. Hopefully, this may one day change and the markets opened a little earlier, however, we must carry on and play with the hand we are dealt.

Glasgow/Surrey (HT/FT) – William Hill at 9/2

To get the first away win on the road against Plymouth last night was part 1 completed. However, with the sheer shock Heat have delivered since the start of this campaign, I’m not sure it will be enough – consider as well that Surrey haven’t had a game yet this weekend, so will be slightly fresher. A good start from Glasgow to get the initiative, but I think Surrey will pull ahead in the last two quarters. Great odds for this one.

Plymouth win by 26+ – bwin at 23/4

If they lose twice in one weekend, Gavin Love’s left over fireworks at the bottom of his garden won’t wait until New Year celebrations I imagine. They will be wanting to prove the doubters wrong that they cannot hang out with the likes of Riders and Eagles at the top of the tree. Expect nothing more (he says…)

Overtime (Giants @ Cheshire) – Sportingbet at 14/1

With all the off-court issues aside (although so hard to ignore) this is the return of the real North West derby, and what a game it could turn out to be. I think it could be too close to call; Giants need the win just as much as Cheshire do, and possibly for two completely different reasons. A fifth straight loss in the league for Manchester here would not do well for morale, and a loss for the Cheshire franchise may impact on why someone would potentially come in to help save them (although I suspect that Cheshire fans will prove the case otherwise single-handedly, and united in voice…note to self – it may be quite loud in the Northgate tonight)

The bookmakers are also making this a tight affair – the longest price for any outright winner, Giants in this instance, comes in at just over evens with Paddy Power and bwin – so to make this thrill-seeker of a game more exciting, and profitable, a cheeky quid or two on the draw/overtime at the end of regulation play makes this one a cracker for all!
