Battle swaps Blue Knights for Brum Knights

The Birmingham Knights have secured their second import player for their 2013/14 roster bringing in 6’7” forward Armond Battle.

Hailing from Plymouth, Minnesota, Battle saw out his college ball days at Urbana University in the NCAA Division II.

Averaging an impressive 21ppg and 5.6apg in 24 games, Armond is known for his ball handling skills, but has the ability to take the ball inside, hit shots from long range as well as posting up when required.

Coach Douglas said of his new signing: “I am delighted to have secured the services of Armond for this coming season. He is a high energy player who fits perfectly into our system here at the Knights. We also feel that he will absolutely complement our other import with work on and off the court. He is able to score in multiple ways and I love his energy on defence. I am confident he will be a huge hit with our fans.”

Battle is looking forward to the new campaign saying: “I am very excited to be part of the Birmingham Knights organization. I look forward to beginning my professional career and contributing to providing the team, fans, and community with exciting basketball”.

Birmingham have also signed Aaron Maher from Nottingham Hoods and local baller Kieran Mills. Douglas has had an association with Maher for some time and said of him: Aaron is an excellent athlete whose pace stretches defence on the breakdown. He has a reputation as an outstanding three point shooter, and this ability awarded him MVP for the Hoods last season.”

Mills, who lives in Erdington, finished last season with the Birmingham Mets.

You can catch the Knights back on the hardwood at home this Sunday (25th August), against EBL Division One opponents Manchester Magic. Tip is 6.45pm and tickets are £6 on the door.

The Knights have also announced that unfortunately the game against the USA Select Team on September 8th has had to be cancelled due to sponsorship issues. The Knights are working to find a replacement team for that date.
