Arenas joins Yao Ming’s Shanghai Sharks

Agent Zero has left the building.

Three-time NBA All star, Gilbert Arenas, has today officially been announced as signing in the Chinese Basketball Association for Yao Ming’s Shanghai Sharks, signing with the Chinese top flight for the 2012/13 CBA season.

The move to the Sharks had been speculated on since the end of October, when Arenas’ move to the Guangdong Southern Tigers was believed to be in danger of falling through.

Arenas will follow in the footsteps of another former NBA guard, former New York Knick Stephon Marbury, who moved to China in January 2010. Since his move, Marbury has been a hit, most notably helping his current Beijing Ducks side to their first ever CBA Finals trophy, averaging around 33ppg in the process.

Gilbert Arenas spent time with the Memphis Grizzlies during last years lock-out shortened season. A season in China, away from the spotlight, could see Arenas, 30, create a path back to the NBA for one final shot to end his career on a high.
