#NBALondon sells out in record time

So if you thought that you would leave it a day to bag tickets for NBA Global Games London 2014 featuring the Atlanta Hawks vs. the Brooklyn Nets, because you were working, didn’t have time, or thought you could relax on the weekend and do it at your own pace – boy, have we got news for you!

Because tickets have SOLD OUT in RECORD time, marking the NBA’s fastest ever sell-out in the UK. Sorry!

The game, which will be played at The O2 on the 16th of January next year, is the fourth NBA regular-season game to be played in London since 2011, and the fourth to be sold out (not that we want to rub salt into the wounds here if you haven’t got a ticket…sorry…again…)

However, Benjamin Morel, NBA Senior Vice President, Europe, did have a few words of thanks to those who did manage to claim a seat at the highly anticipated game.

“Firstly, we want to thank our fans. Selling out so quickly is testament to the popularity of our players and teams and is further evidence of the ever growing appetite for the NBA in the UK,

“With some of the best players in the world taking to the court and a range of additional fan activities planned, fans can look forward to the full 360° NBA experience right here in London.”

NBA Global Games London 2014 marks the eighth consecutive sellout NBA contest at The O2, dating back to 2007, including preseason and regular-season games.

Matthieu Van Veen, senior vice president of AEG Sports Europe, who own The O2 Arena in London, added: “I am delighted that the game has sold out in record time. Not only does it highlight the immense interest for NBA basketball in the UK, but it also once again demonstrates that The O2 is one of the globe’s top sporting venues. AEG’s successful partnership with the NBA is allowing thousands of fans worldwide to get closer to the game every season.”

“Fans in the UK will be in for a real show as the Hawks host the Nets in January,” said Atlanta Hawks forward and two-time NBA All-Star Al Horford. “It is great news that the game has sold out so quickly. We appreciate the support of the fans and look forward to a great game in January.”

There may be a ray of hope though as fans are being urged to follow @NBAUK and NBA UK Facebook as a limited number of tickets may become available through releases closer to the game.

But never fear – we here at UKAmericanSportsFans.com will endeavour, as always, to bring you as close to the action as possible in the build up to the game and will be for all the pre-game events, and hopefully more, come January 16th!
