Kai Williams released by Phoenix

It was announced this morning by Cheshire Phoenix that forward Kai Williams has been released after negotiations over an improved contract could not be agreed.

The statement in full said:

Recently the club was asked to enter negotiations with Kai Williams over an improved contract.

However, following lengthy talks it became apparent that the player’s demands and our own position were so far apart that a deal was impossible to reach. As a result, we have decided to release Kai, to seek a new deal elsewhere.

Williams joins a long list of players who have so far come and gone from the Phoenix roster this season, but Cheshire will be looking to move quickly to sign a replacement ahead of this Sunday’s visit of Newcastle Eagles; who took the Phoenix apart 106-65 in their first home game of the season at the Northgate Arena.
